PRIVACY

DIMEBIN is a one-person project I build and run for fun. I keep only what I need to run your account and to make the recommendations better. I don't sell your data, and I never will. You can switch off listening signals at any time under Your choices.

WHAT I STORE

YOUR ACCOUNT
Your email address, username and, if you add them, a name and a profile picture. Your password is stored only as a secure hash, so I never see it.
YOUR LIBRARY
The tracks and records you favorite and the playlists you build or join, so they are there on any device you sign in from.
LISTENING SIGNALS
Which recommendations you were shown, which of them you played and for how long, and when you favorite a track, add it to a playlist or dig from it. These are recorded under a random ID generated in your browser — not linked to your account, your name, your email or your IP address.
HISTORY
Your play history stays in your browser. It is never sent to me.

HOW I USE IT

  • — To sign you in and keep your favorites and playlists in sync.
  • — To learn which records people actually dig, in aggregate, so the similar-tracks rankings get better for everyone.

WHAT I DON'T DO

  • — I don't sell, rent or trade your data.
  • — I don't share it with advertisers or data brokers.
  • — I don't use advertising cookies or track you across other sites.

WHO ELSE SEES IT

  • — People you share a playlist with, including anyone who invites you to one, see your name, username and profile picture, and everything on that playlist. They never see your email.
  • — Anyone with the link to a public playlist sees what is on it and the name, username and picture of whoever made it, but not who else is on it. Playlists are only public if their owner makes them so. Beyond these two, nobody sees your profile at all.
  • — YouTube plays the tracks. When a video plays, Google may collect data under its own privacy policy.
  • — Service providers host the site, store your account and turn what you type into the search box into a search. They only handle your data to do that job, and searches are not linked to you.

YOUR CHOICES

You can stop listening signals at any time. Recommendations work exactly the same either way.

ANONYMOUS LISTENING SIGNALS

On. What you are shown, play and save is logged under a random ID, never your account. Applies to this browser; sign in to keep the choice on every device.

  • — Change your name, username, password or profile picture in Settings.
  • — Delete your account from Settings at any time. That permanently removes your profile, picture, favorites and playlists, and anything you added to playlists other people shared with you.
  • — Leave a shared playlist from the playlist itself, or decline an invite from your Playlists page.
  • — Clear your history from the History page, or by clearing your browser data.

THE FINE PRINT

  • — DIMEBIN isn't meant for children under 13.
  • — Since I don't track you across other sites, there is nothing for your browser's Do Not Track setting to switch off.
